Hamilton is a leading medtech manufacturing firm, globally recognized for its innovative solutions. Headquartered in Bonaduz, a remote town in Eastern Switzerland, the company was preparing for the launch of a new product. As part of this venture, they needed to fill a highly specialized role — a test automation engineer with medical device, C+ and test automation expertise. 

Problems identified

Hamilton required a test automation engineer with a distinct combination of skills - medical device expertise, C+ proficiency, and test automation experience. Despite engaging multiple agencies, they struggled to find suitable candidates willing to relocate to their remote location in Bonaduz, Switzerland. Compounding the challenge, Hamilton required five-day, on-site working—a requirement increasingly rare in an era embracing hybrid work models.

Strategy and approach

Understanding the project

We began by thoroughly discussing with the firm their specific needs and expectations for the test automation role, as well as the budget available and working requirements.

Redefining search perimeters

Recognizing the limitations of sourcing candidates willing to relocate from Swiss metropolitan areas, we broadened our search to neighboring countries as well as Eastern Europe.

Sourcing and selection

We specifically sought candidates with the precise skill set who also showed enthusiasm for the prospect of relocation. Just nine days into our expanded search, we identified and presented two suitable candidates.

Engagement and evaluation

Each candidate underwent a telephone assessment to ensure they possessed the required skills and experience, as well as alignment with Hamilton's culture and role requirements.

Onboarding and implementation

Once the successful candidate was chosen following a round of interviews, we extended our role beyond recruitment, assisting him in finding and securing suitable accommodation during the relocation preparation process.

Results

Despite the challenging parameters, we filled the position within 26 days of receiving the vacancy, and the successful candidate was relocated and fully integrated at Hamilton three weeks later.
