Senior Scientist, RWE & Epidemiology - Role Overview
This is a dynamic and high-impact position where you will lead real-world evidence (RWE) studies and epidemiological research to support the development of smoke-free products. As a Senior Scientist in this role, you'll have the opportunity to design, lead, and execute studies that are central to the company's mission, including comparative safety research, health effects assessments, and regulatory submissions. Senior Scientist RWE & Epidemiology - Key Responsibilities
- Lead RWE Study Design: Design and manage epidemiological studies (case-control, retrospective cohort) focused on health outcomes related to smoke-free products.
- Data Strategy and Methodology: Oversee the selection of appropriate data sources and methodologies for primary data collection and secondary data analysis, ensuring alignment with scientific standards.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with academic institutions, healthcare professionals, and external partners to foster collaborations and strengthen research capabilities.
- Regulatory and Scientific Communication: Present study findings to key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, medical experts, and public health bodies.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in study designs and manage the progress of research projects against established timelines.
- Vendor and Project Oversight: Manage external vendors involved in RWE studies, ensuring high-quality execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Learning: Stay informed on trends in epidemiology, public health, and real-world evidence to continuously enhance the value of the company's RWE efforts.
Experience and Qualifications for the Senior Scientist RWE & Epidemiology Role
- Educational Background: MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience (with a PhD) or 10 years (with an MSc) designing, conducting, and analyzing RWE studies across multiple geographies.
- At least 2 years in the Life Sciences industry, with a strong track record in secondary data analysis and knowledge of privacy-protecting record linkage.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong expertise in epidemiological and biostatistical methodologies.
- Familiarity with predictive modeling is a plus.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, negotiate with stakeholders, and manage complex research projects.
- Vendor Management: Experience overseeing external vendors and study management.
- Programming Skills (Preferred): Knowledge of Python, R, or similar tools is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with fluency in English. Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and present complex data in an understandable manner.
