In very close relation with the Head of Bioinformatics & Software Development, the role of the Bioinformatics / Data Scientist will include developing automated data analysis workflows for the company's systems since data partition and data clustering is key to fully maximize data analysis performance over a massive data range and participate in improving health by offering high precision genetic analysis solutions to researchers and clinicians worldwide.
The biotech's system is the most powerful digital PCR solution on the market, offering high-plexed and high precision genetic analysis of all types of biological samples. It also generates multidimensional (typically 6 dimensions) digital PCR data, i.e. 6D dot plots.
Primary mission: Your primary mission will be to solve the following challenge, by contributing individually and collaborating with others internally and with our partners.
♦ The data needs to be "clustered", to identify positive and negative droplets for all targeted biomarkers.
♦ The current software of the Biotech offers state-of-the-art clustering tools but still require user intervention.
♦ The market would benefit from automated data analysis workflows, not compromising on the precision and reliability of the result.
♦ You will help to build multiple external collaborations to create a fruitful working environment.
♦ You will also be involved in the development of new ideas related to data analysis to capitalize on the technological lead of the Biotech and widen the gap with the competition. Finally, you will identify weaknesses of our systems from the data analyze point of view, and cascade them for future improvements.
♦ You will address all these points by performing robust proof of concept studies and by transferring verified algorithms to the software team for integration into existing solutions of the Biotech.
Solving this exciting challenge has the potential to improve patient care in multiple fields, from infectious disease diagnosis to oncology.
♦ Develop automated data analysis workflows.
♦ Implement proof of concept with robust evaluation.
♦ Ensure their integration in existing solutions.
♦ Identify all improvable steps related to automation or analytical processing.
♦ Support existing partnerships regards to the data analysis community related to the company.
♦ Make regular state of art reviews and report them efficiently.
♦ PhD in bioinformatics, applied mathematics or related fields with experience in Public, Biotech or Startup environment.
♦ Is mastering Python with at least 4 years experience in the industry. Good knowledge of C++ is a plus.
♦ Expert in developing methodologies and algorithms for complex data analysis.
♦ Strong background in data clustering, including machine learning methods and a thorough knowledge of the theory.
♦ Solid experience in software development especially versioning and testing.
♦ Has several publications as first author in high impact factor journals.
♦ Good knowledge in statistics.
♦ Experience in genomics data analysis is a nice to have.
♦ Proactive, solution oriented, and shows initiative, natural leader.
♦ Passionate about data science, biology and healthcare.
♦ Enjoys teamwork, team player.
♦ Good communication skills, both in French and English
